When I think of brands that have kept a strong reputation, I think of e.l.f. Cosmetics. Their campaigns are golden, for the most part. The one that truly stands out is the “So many d****, so few Middle Eastern women” campaign, which emphasized that there are nearly as many men named Richard, Rick, or Dick as there are women from diverse groups on U.S. corporate boards.

It shared information about what a board of directors actually is, highlighted a diversity database, and explained why it’s beneficial for everyone when boards are more diverse.

Did it have anything to do with makeup? No. But did it have something to do with their target audience (women)? Yes. They wanted to remind their audience that they see them and that they stand for causes their audience finds important.

e.l.f. is definitely a brand that knows how to make its audience feel seen, and in a cheeky way too. This is a brand that is without a doubt so fetch.
